agámi File System Replication - agámiFSR™
agámi Systems delivers the only unified network attached storage (NAS) system that supports out-of-the-box file system replication between multiple systems. agámiFSR, combined with the agámi Information Server (AIS), is more than a simple replication technology; it’s a central flexibility point for designing entirely new kinds of protection, recovery and availability schema for NAS. The differences between agámi replication and traditional block-level replication are night-and-day.
agámiFSR replicates file systems between a primary and a secondary AIS server, either synchronously or asynchronously, over a LAN or WAN. Unlike block-level replication technologies, agámiFSR replicates file systems rather than entire server contents. It can be used to replicate critical data only, to consolidate data from several remote locations in real time, or to establish multiple remote locations for disaster recovery. An AIS system can host one or more primary file systems while simultaneously hosting replicas of other file systems. Space-efficient copy-on-write snapshots of agámiFSR file system replicas can be taken at any time with no impact on the primary production file system.
Using agámiFSR synchronous replication, enterprises of all sizes can keep up-to-date copies of their critical data accessible in the event of system failures and network outages that isolate primary file systems. If an AIS system hosting a replicated file system fails from the network, an administrator can quickly convert its replica to a primary file system. The agámiHA high availability software option augments agámiFSR by automatically discovering primary AIS system failures and network partitions, and “failing over” to the pair’s secondary system. See our
High Availability section for more information on agámiHA.
